Our Summer Camp “Live, Laugh, Learn” is currently in session and our teen counselors are doing a great job. For the first time, this year’s counselors are unique since they have actually grown up in Hearts In Hands Community Center by previously either attending as Campers or participating in our Clubs. Our goal is “To Build Stronger Youth Communities and Community Connections” and this is surely proof positive that we are living up to our goal. As always, we would like this summer experience for both our campers and teen counselors to be an opportunity for empowerment, confidence enhancement, individual talent and skill sharing, acquisition of new friends and the recognition as individuals to respect everyone. Thank you, Counselors, for being part of this goal.

Lenyia also showed leadership abilities early on as a camper. Now, the campers love hanging out with their counselor, “Miss Ny”. Ny finds that listening to music is relaxing and utilizes her love of music by leading the campers in music activities. Lenyia's future goal is to become a probation officer working with troubled youth.

Jerhmani.jpeg

Jerhmani just graduated from Coatesville High School - Congratulations!! She gained experience by previously volunteering at a neighborhood community center, and is now sharing her experience with our campers. Jerhmani likes to help people and is exploring what ways she can best help people and make the world a better place. She also enjoys doing hair.

Zynae came to us as a former camper and early on exhibited her willingness to help other younger campers. Her future goal is to become a pediatrician. Zynae also likes painting and watching Netflix.

Jaymes.jpeg

Jaymes is a former HIHCC Camper who has returned as a counselor this year. Observing this teen boy mature and become a counselor should inspire the young boys in a positive way and serve as a role model to the campers. Jaymes is very flexible and willing to do whatever will help make camp successful. Jaymes enjoys camping and road trips, and his future goal is to become a paramedic or dental hygienist.

Nyella has joined HIHCC as a new counselor for Session #2. Welcome to Summer Camp and thank you.

Taylor.jpeg

Taylor, from an early age, participated in HIHCC’s Legos, Princess, Sewing and other Clubs. Throughout the year, she is always offering to help HIHCC with any events. She has performed service as an assistant helper in the Princess Club and currently serves as a Camp Counselor. At her school, Taylor participates in the ROTC Program. She enjoys drawing and painting, and watching movies to relax. Her future goal is to be a pediatrician.

Piper.jpeg

Piper, who is a former HIHCC camper, moved out of the area for a short time, but is now back with us as a counselor. Piper enjoys working with kids. She feels that she did not want to waste her time being bored this summer. As a result, she will be actively using her time and skills to serve as an integral member of a team that allows kids to learn while providing both her and the kids with a fun-filled summer. Piper's future goal is to become a Vet or Medical Doctor. Welcome back to HIHCC, Piper.

Elaina_edited.jpg

Elaina recently moved to this area and felt that volunteering at HIHCC's Camp was a great way to get more involved in the community. Elaina said, "Growing up, I went to a lot of summer camps and my counselors made a positive impression on me. I still remember them and how happy I was to be a part of the programs. I  am so appreciative to have this opportunity to be a positive influence on another child.
